Dr. Fansa
Dr. Fansa is a boarded Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He is also a boarded Hand Surgeon and a lecturer for Plastic Surgery at the University of Magdeburg.
Born in Hannover, Germany, he attended Medical School in Hannover (MHH) and London, Ontario, Canada (UWO) and took his medical examinations at the Medical School in Hannover in 1994. He completed his doctoral thesis (“Dr. medicinae”) in 1995 at the University Department for Plastic Surgery in Hannover (Prof. Dr. A. Berger).
From 1994 to 1996 he was Resident at the Department for Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery (Prof. Dr. Schneider), University Hospital Magdeburg, Germany. After he worked as Visiting Surgeon at the Department for Hand and Plastic Surgery (Prof. Dr. G. Lister) at the University of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, in 1996 he returned to Magdeburg and completed the program. In 1999 he was a Fellow for Plastic and Hand Surgery at University Hospital Magdeburg. From 2000 to 2003 he was appointed Consultant for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University in Magdeburg.
In 2001 he received his Ph.D. and was appointed lecturer for Plastic Surgery at the University of Magdeburg.
In 2003 he was appointed Consultant and Head of the Department in Bielefeld.
He is surgically focused in Aesthetic Surgery and reconstructive procedures inlcuding microsurgery (especially: free microsurgical TRAM/DIEP/S-GAP Flaps for Breast Reconstruction).
Dr. Fansa is author of more than 70 original papers, 10 book chapters and editorials, as well as more that 120 presentations and abstracts. Together with Prof. Penkert he has authored a standard text book on Peripheral Nerve Lesions, Springer Heidelberg 2004.
He received the Hexal Award 1999 for outstanding scientific research. In 2006 he obtained the Stiftung Familie Klee Award for his research on tissue engineering of peripheral nerves.
Dr. Fansa is member of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRAEC) and member of the Association of German Aesthetic Surgeons (VDAEPC).
